I have listed here my tertiary qualifications. As you can see, I have engaged in tertiary level study across many years, in addition to my ongoing professional development.
| Year of graduation | Qualification | Tertiary institution |
| 2019 | Bachelor of Social Work: Honours | James Cook University |
| 2011 | Graduate Certificate in Gestalt Therapy | Gestalt Therapy Brisbane |
| 2008 | Bachelor of Social Work | University of Queensland |
| 2000 | Bachelor of Social Sciences: Human Services | Queensland University of Technology |
My Honours thesis, completed in 2019, was titled ‘Social Workers’ Experience of Disenfranchised Grief: A Narrative Exploration’. This was a personally meaningful and professionally satisfying project. I may potentially write an article for peer review at some point, and in the meantime, you can read the Abstract below. My deep appreciation for my Supervisor, Dr Jo Mensinga, for sharing her knowledge and experience, and the two research participants for their incredible generosity with their time and stories. And thank-you to James Cook University for offering an Honours thesis as an option outside of the Bachelor of Social Work.
In 2020, I embarked on a PhD. My research project engaged narrative research methodology to explore the ‘existential experiences’ of End-of-Life-Care Social Workers. I express my sincere gratitude to my Supervisors and James Cook University for this opportunity. I had three main achievements in this academic journey: passing my Confirmation of Candidature; receiving Ethics approval; and having a ‘first author’ article published. At this point of the academic journey, I made the challenging decision in 2022 to withdraw from this research project. I take with me significant professional and personal learnings from this experience.
Connected with my university studies, I have written peer reviewed academic articles which you can find below.
